Houston: As I sat down with Bryan Anjel of Day 26 I was completely humbled at how down to earth he was. As we walked from the studio where he acknowledged new artists of World Music as his “little sisters” biding them good luck on their rehearsal to the Dereon Media Center I immediately was drawn to him by his electric and genuine personality. He cracked jokes and carried conversation as if he wasn’t who he was which to me was very admirable. Being apart of a world renowned group created and backed by P Diddy’s Bad Boy Records and to have been on television as the world watched his journey as an artist some would think it would’ve given him some sort of ammo to act in some sort of superior to anyone and anything outside of his social classification however he was very enthusiastic and excited to sit down with me to “chit, chat.” We began to talk about his career and journey as an artist/entrepreneur where he stated that “the most difficult obstacle to overcome was getting people to realize my vision and my dream, a lot of people won’t believe in your dream but you have to understand most won’t understand cause it’s given by God.” This made more than enough sense for me. How often do we seek confirmation about our ideas/dreams from family, colleagues, friends etc.? and how often do they not see or comprehend that ultimate goal/vision? leaving you a bit apprehensive at the idea wondering if it even made sense at all.

As he continued he spoke about his own personal experiences of how hard it was for others to understand him, his voice, and his artistry. I asked Bryan what his definition of success was he stated with no hesitation or elaboration that “…success to me is when you find happiness.” He zeroed in on Day 26’s reemergence coming this year and how long but also fulfilling the journey has been because of what he has learned along the way. I commended Bryan on his journey and asked if he could give any advice to an aspiring entrepreneur and/or artist and he answered, “educate yourself in whatever you’re trying to do, you will get your heart broken if you don’t educate yourself.” I nodded with such conviction, how can you aspire to be something you know nothing about? In order to be a game changer you must first know the game.

Bryan was more than influential to my grind and is a prime example of holding tight to your dreams until they completely and consistently come true. After Day 26’s break up Mr. Anjel never lost sight of his vision or the art of being an artist. He stayed true to his purpose and continues to grind daily to reach his success. So grateful to have met such an amazing soul and I cannot wait to hear the new and upcoming music Day 26 has in store!
